Watchmen Of The Skies

Watchmen of the skies
The arch of the soft serrated sphere
Falls into perpetuity of space beyond years
Spiralling above exterior too large for mind’s eye
Positioned as soldiers to observe earth passing by

We watchmen jump and rise in fright
Compelled to the heavens and liquefied in light
The sun condemns the jovial jokes of our youth
And strews our friends in vastness of truth

Plummeting through the lightness of air
We cling to each other in depths of despair
As weight drags us down, we tumble from binds
Eyes open wide, all else left behind

Glittering, weeping we plunge to abyss
Feeling the rays of the suns cowardice
It’s light once more tries to penetrate us through
But we escape it with fury as we drop in the blue

And lastly crashing on rock, ground and sea
Shattered eyes peer to where we long to be
We hear our freedom beckoning from the sky
Appreciating that our trials must first pass us by

Helpless, motionless and powerless we’re torn
Lagging over the dying surface forlorn
Recognising that soon by our hopes we can rise
Returning to the clouds as watchmen of the skies
